If you want to live your best possible life, you have to become the master of your fear.

Fear will stop you from going after what you want. For a lot of people, it stops them from even knowing what they want, because admitting it is too scary.

For others, it makes them believe they can’t have what they want, don’t deserve it, or wouldn’t be able to handle it if they got it.

If you let fear rule your life, it will kill your creativity, your confidence, and your ability to attract the things you want.

But this doesn’t mean you have to get rid of it. In fact, we need some fear to keep us safe. But if you want to create your ultimate life, you have to know how to live with fear and not let it run the show.

How To Know If Fear Is Holding You Back

Fear is always with us, but it plays a more dominant role for some. So how can you tell if fear is holding you back?

First, look at your life. How are you doing in the following areas?

Money
Health
Relationships
Career
Happiness and Fulfillment
If any part of your life is not optimal, or at least well on the way, fear is likely playing a role. Most problems are solvable, and most skills are learnable, so if you’re not solving your problems and developing the skills you need to succeed in life, something is getting in the way. And the fact that some people overcome incredible hardship to achieve success shows us that external factors aren’t to blame. So that means that what’s stopping us is on the inside.

Second, to get more insight into how fear may be controlling you, ask yourself a few questions:

Do you know with clarity what you want in life?
Do you feel capable of getting it?
Do you feel certain you’ll really like it?
Do you believe others will approve of you when you get it?
Do you make plans and act on them consistently?
Are you good at making decisions?
Are you okay with trying things and failing?
If your answer to any of the above is no, fear could be getting in your way.

So what effects does fear have on the results you get in life? Well, it can be pretty destructive.

Fear can keep you stuck in a familiar state of struggle, lack, and mediocrity. It can keep you broke or just getting by and prevent you from getting anywhere close to rich.

Fear can stop you from doing things that would make a big impact in the world and contribute to others’ lives. It can keep you stressed and depressed, which can take a huge toll on your health.

It can leave you unfulfilled and drowning in regret. It can stop you from leaving a crappy job, from getting your business off the ground, or from marketing or networking.

It can stop you from making friends or talking to that cute person at the coffee shop who could be the partner of your dreams if only you could muster the courage to talk to them.

In short, fear can stop you from getting anything meaningful and desirable you can think of if you let it.
